Description: 

* Rambling annual herbs.

* Inflorescence terminal and axillary of delicate solitary or subdigitate racemes. Racemes with 1- 3 large herbaceous homogamous pairs of spikelets at the base. Internodes and pedicels with a translucent median line.

* Sessile spikelet callus obtuse. Lower glume chartaceous to cartilaginous, flat, narrowly obtuse. Upper lemma entire with awn. Pedicelled spikelet large and herbaceous.

Genus of tropical Africa and tropical America with 2 species.
