Description:

* Aquatic perennial with a spongy culm.

* Inflorescence of racemes along a short central axis. Spikelets paired or in short appressed racemelets.

* Spikelets lanceolate. Lower glume short, truncate; upper glume and lower lemma long acuminate. Upper lemma lanceolate, coriaceous, with a few hairs at tip.

Monotypic genus of South Sudan and DRC; floating in water or decumbent in mud.
