Description:

* Perennials, Leaves flat, broadly linear, without auricles; ligule membranous, sheaths glabrous.

* Inflorescence a lax panicle.

* Spikelets herbaceous-membranous, terete with 1-4 fertile florets, distal incomplete florets hardly underdeveloped, when present awned, rachilla prolongued beyond uppermost floret. Glumes lanceolate, subequal. Lemma narrowly lanceolate, rounded on the back, scaberulous, awned from the tip or just below; callus short, rounded, puberulous.

Genus of African grasses with 5 species.
