Leptothrium Kunth

Description:

* Perennials or annuals with narrow leaves.

* Inflorescence a loose many-sided false raceme; spikelets solitary or paired, falling together with the enlarged common peduncle.

* Spikelets linear to lanceolate, awnless. Glumes well developed, longer than the floret which is tightly enclosed within the upper glume, dissimilar, coriaceous, smooth or tuberculate-spinulose; lower glume (one if in a pair) modified into a long flat recurved tail, the upper tightly enfolding the floret. Lemma 1-nerved, thinly membranous, acute.

The genus has 2 species, bushlands.
