Diheteropogon Stapf

Description:

* Annuals or perennials. Leaves linear, sometimes cordate at the base

* Inflorescence of pair.ed racemes, terminal or gathered in a scanty compound panicle. Raceme bases terete, not deflexed, with one to many homogamous pairs of spikelets; internodes linear; internodes and pedicels linear.

* Sessile spikelet subterete, oblong, with a pungent callus deeply inserted into the cupular internode tip. Lower glume coriaceous, hollowed or deeply grooved, 2-keeled with a deep nerveless median groove, tip bidentate. Lower lemma sterile withput a lemma; upper lemma bi-lobed with a hirsute geniculate awn. Pedicelled spikelet much larger than the sessile, male, herbaceous.
