Loxodera Laun.

Description:

* Caespitose perennials. Ligule membranous.

* Inflorescence an unbranched, terminal raceme, the internodes clavate or columnar with a broad scarious rim bearing long white hairs; the spikelets partilally embedded in the rhachis.

* Sessile spikelets with a pubescent callus, the lower glume strongly veined. Pedicellate spikelet staminate, sterile or reduced. Glumes muticous or short-awned.

Genus of tropical Africa with 5 species.
