Description:

* Wiry or rambling perennials. Leaves linear to lanceolate, flat ; ligule reduced to a hairy rim.

* Inflorescence of racemes along a central axis, the spikelets borne singly on the rhachis or in neat appressed secondary racemulets. Spikelets adaxial.

* Spikelets with a short triangular lower glume ; upper glume as long as spikelet. Upper lemma uniformly pubescent.

Genus with 5 species; marshes and dry woodland.
