Description:
* Annual of 0.3-0.8 m high; culms erect, slender, 1-1.5 mm thick; nodes bearded. Leaves linear, 8-10 cm long and 2-5 mm wide, hirsute on both sides, acuminate, margins tuberculate-ciliate; ligule a fringe of hairs; sheaths 2-3 cm long, hirsute with tubercle-based hairs.
* Inflorescence an open, ovate golden-yellow panicle of 12-20 cm long, branches flexuous. Pedicels filiformes, 1-3 cm long.
* Spikelets linear, 8-10 mm long; callus 2-toothed, 0.5 mm long, bearded. Lower glume elliptic, 2.5-4 mm long. Chartaceous, light brown; upper glume as long as spikelet, with tubercle-based hairs on the veins, truncate. Lower lemma similar to upper glume, as long as spikelet; upper lemma oblong, 4 mm long, with a geniculate awn of 5-6.5 cm long from the tip; column twisted, 2 cm long. Anthers 2.
