Description:
* Tufted annual of 40-60 cm long; culms erect. Leaves 10-20 cm long and 2-3 mm wide, margins smooth; ligule a triangular acute eciliate membrane.
* Inflorescence an open lanceolate panicle of 8-12 cm long and 1-4 cm wide, contracted about primary branches. Primary branches simple, 2-6 cm long, the spikelets towards the tip.
* Spikelets oblong, 2.2-3.5 mm long and 1-1.25 mm wide. Glumes both absent or obscure. Fertile lemma 2.2-3.5 mm long, chartaceous, scabrous, keeled, 5 -veined; midvein pectinately ciliate, hairy above, involute, acute; palea elliptic, chartaceous. Stamens 6.
