Eragrostis kohorica Quézel

Description:

* Densely clumped perennial of 8-12 cm long. Culms erect. Leaves involute, 40 cm long and 1.5-2.5 mm wide, rough, attenuate; ligule  a fringe of hairs; sheath oral hairs ciliate.

* Inflorescence an open ovate panicle of 4-5 cm long; branches 2.5 cm long, scabrous. Spikelets on pedicels of 1-10 mm long.

* Spikelets with 5-10 fertile florets and reduced florets towards the tip, linear, 4-10 mm long and 1.5-1.8 mm long, breaking op from the base upwards, paleas persistent. Lower glume lanceolate, 0.6-1 mm long, hyaline, acute; upper glume lanceolate, 1.2 mm long, 0.7-0.8 mm long, , keeled, acute. Lemmas lanceolate, 1.5-1.7 mm long, membranous, with scaberulous keel, 3-veined, glabrous.

Distribution West Africa and world-wide: Chad (Tibesti).
