Description:
* Mat-forming annual of 10-20 cm high. Culms prostate, slender; nodes brown. Leaves linear to lanceolate, 1-3 cm long and 2-4 mm wide, glabrous; margins scabrous; ligule a ciliolate membrane of 0.3 mm long; sheath pilose.
* Inflorescence 2(-4) paired racemes. Racemes unilateral, 3-7 mm long; rhachis broadly winged with sharp-edged midrib, 0.5-0.8 mm wide; bases filiform. Spikelets in pairs, on long unequal angular pedicels of 0.5-3 mm long, tip widened.
* Spikelets oblong, 1.8-2.1 mm long. Lower glume oblate, 0.2 mm long, hyaline, truncate; upper glume oblong as long as spikelet, membranous, 5-veined, pubescent with white or purple verruculose hairs, acute. Lower lemma without palea, similar but shorter than upper glume, 7-veined, also pubescent; upper lemma oblong, gibbous,1.5-2 mm long, cartilaginous with thinner margins covering most of plaea, yellow or mid-green, apiculate.
