Description:

* Small rhizomatous perennial up to 50 cm high. Aphyllous culms 15-26 cm long; culms with leaves up to 50 cm long. Leaves asymmetrical with racemes carrying some subsessile spikelets with a false petiole of 2-6 cm long and 3-3.5 mm wide, hairy on both sides.

* Inflorescence on aphyllous culms in short racemes with some subsessil spikelets; sometimes the culms with leaves with an inflorescence.

* Spikelets linear-elliptic2-3.5 cm long. Lemmas oblong, 8 mm long; paleas longet than the lemmas.
