Description:

* Annual of 0.6-1 m high. Culms slender, erect or geniculately ascending, 3-4-noded; internodes unequal, the upper longer, distally glabrous. Leaves 2.5-5 cm long and 3-5 mm wide, smooth, glabrous, margins cartilaginous, scaberulous, attenuate; ligule a brown ciliolate brown membrane; sheath tight, mostly shorter than adjacent internode, glabrous or with tubercle-based hairs.

* Inflorescence 2-4 digitate racemes. Racemes unilateral, 7-18 mm long,; rhachis angular, wingless, 0.4-0.5 mm wide, scabrous and pubescent on the margins. Spikelets in clusters of 2-4 together at each node on filiform pedicels of 0.5-3 mm long, ciliate.

* Spikelets elliptic, 2.5 mm long and 0.8 mm wide. Lower glume obscure or absent; upper glume slightly shorter than spikelet, membranous, narrower than lemma, 3-veined, hairy between the veins, acute. Lower lemma
