Description:

* Caespitose annual, 0.3-0.6 m high. Culms decumbent at the base. Leaves lanceolate, 1-2.5 cm long and 2-7 mm wide, base broadly rounded, margins spinulose-ciliate; ligule an eciliate membrane.

* Inflorescence in single multilateral dense raceme of 4-17 mm long, the spikelets contiguous with a pedicel of 0.2 mm long.

* Spikelets linear, 3-3.5 mm long; callus oblong, 0.5-0.6 mm long, with one fertile floret. Glumes lanceolate, 2.5-3 mm long, membranous, hispidulous in lines along their length, acuminate with an awn 20-35 mm long. Lemma lanceolate, 2-2.5 mm long, hyaline, acute; palea hyaline. Anthers 3.
