Description:

* Caespitose perennial of 4-20 cm high; culms erect. Leaves filiform, 5-10 cm long and 0.5-1 mm wide.

* Inflorescence composed of a single unilateral raceme, excerted or embraced at the base by the subtending leaf. Raceme 2-12 cm long; rhachis subcylindrical and excavated. Spikelets sunken broadside to the rhachis, solitary, regular and 2-rowed

* Spikelets 2-flowered with a barren rhachilla extension, lanceolate, 3-5 mm long, disarticulating between the florets; callus bearded with hairs 1 mm long. Glumes persistent, the lower 1 mm long, membranous; the upper 3-4 mm long, coriaceous with membranous margins, 1-keeled, acuminate. Lemma 2.5-3.5 mm long, membranous, keeled, asperulous, 2-fid. Anthers 3, 1.2 mm long. Caryopsis ellipsoid, 1.5 mm long.
