Tripogon multiflorus Miré & H. Gillet

Description:

* Caespitose perennial of 10-65 cm long, basal sheaths papery, forming dense persistant bunches. Culms erect, with 2-3 nodes. Leaves filiform, convolute, 3-20 cm long and 1 mm wide;  margins scabrous towards tip ; ligule a short ciliolate membrane.

* Inflorescence a single erect raceme. Raceme straight, unilateral, 5-23 cm long. Rhachis angular and scabrous.

* Spikelets with 8-19 fertile florets and diminished florets at the apex, 9-20 mm long, disarticulating below each fertile floret; callus pilose. Lower glume lanceolate, asymmetrical, 2.6-3.2 mm long, membranous, acute ; upper glume 3.2-3.8 mm long, membranous. Lemmas elliptic, 3-4.4 mm long, membranous, mid-green and purple, without keel,3 -veined and lateral veins extending close to apex; apex entire or dentate with an awn of 0.5-1.3 mm long from the sinus; apical sterile lemma underdeveloped.
