Description:

* Perennial of 0.2-0.4 m high. Culms erect or geniculately ascending. Leaves 4-8 cm long, 2-4 mm wide, glaucous, tip attenuate.

* Inflorescence a spiciform panicle with the branches accrescent to the axis; axi angular, glabrous with deciduous clusters. 4-5 fertile and 4-5 sterile spikelets in a cluster subtended by an oblong involucre composed of imperfect spikelets of 3.5-4.5 mm long.

* Spikelets lanceolate, 3.5-4.5 mm long falling entire with the accessory branch. Lower glume absent or reduced; upper glume subulate, 2-3 mm long, hyaline. Lower lemma 3.5-4 mm longm membranous, 3-veined, pubescent; upper lemma linear to lanceolate, as long as spikelet, chartaceous, keelless. Anthers 3, 3 mm long; caryopsis 1 mm long.
