Description: 

* Rambling or prostrate perennial of 0.3-2 m high. Culms ascending or erect, rooting at the lower nodes; nodes pubescent. Leaves linear, 8-14 cm long and 4-8 mm wide, glabrous or pubescent; ligule 1-2 mm long, glabrous.

* Inflorescence 2-3 digitate racemes. Racemes unilateral, 3-15 cm long; rhachis fragile, angular, ciliate on the margins; internodes cuneate, yellowish to purple, flat, forming a V or U shape with pedicel. Pedicels as long as internode, ciliate.

* Sessile spikelets lanceolate to oblong, 4-6 mm long; callus 1.5 mm long, bearded. Lower glume chartaceous, 2-keeled but no wings, convex, glabrous to pilose, bidentate; upper glume 1-keeled, acuminate. Upper lemma oblong, membranous 4-6 mm long with a geniculate awn of 7-14 mm long from the sinus. Pedicelled spikelets sterile, well-developped, 4-7 mm long. Glumes chartaceous, keeled, muticous; lemma geniculately awned.
